Tesla looks to have resumed production at Fremont Factory

Just a few days after Tesla seemed to pause production at the Fremont Factory according to plans revealed by CEO Elon Musk last week, operations have appeared to resume already.

On Tuesday, we reported that Tesla had evidently paused production at Fremont, which was something Musk detailed on the company’s Q2 2023 Earnings Call just one week prior.

Musk said:

“Although, we expect that Q3 production will be

The reason for the upgrades was unconfirmed, but upgrades were presumably caused by Tesla’s plans to revamp the Model 3 as a part of the Highland design that the automaker has reportedly been working on for over a year.

Photographs captured from a video posted by Met God in the Wilderness showed a nearly vacant logistics lot, no vehicle haulers, and even a blocked-off entry point, all signs that Tesla started the production interruptions in Fremont, which would make sense as this is where the Highland Model 3 project started.

Filings uncovered by Teslarati since late last year have shown Tesla’s development of the Model 3 Highland project, and tooling upgrades, as well as equipment installations, have been described in the automaker’s permit applications with the City.

Additionally, Tesla is planning to make more room on the floor at Fremont by reorganizing the factory, which has been described as “space-confined” for years.

Tesla never confirmed the pause, but the company had not filed any additional changes at the plant in four days when we first reported the stoppage. This is somewhat unusual as Tesla has multiple filings a day normally.

Another flyover from the same YouTube channel reveals that production is already restarting, but at a slow rate.

The logistics lot has already started filling up once again, and haulers are now gaining access to the area.

Additionally, there are forklifts and other vehicles transporting equipment between buildings, which is something the factory was void of a few days ago when the first flyover took place.

The slight pause in production evidently only lasted around three days, but it may take some time for Tesla to reach its previous manufacturing speed.

The filings over the past few weeks out of Fremont detail space improvements, tool installations, and process relocations.

Tesla trolls Ford as Cybertruck dressed as F-150 hits the streets

Tesla is trolling Ford by dressing up a Cybertruck as an F-150 with a wrap, and it is evidently going to hit the streets soon.

Just a few days ago, we reported that there was a sighting of a Cybertruck wrapped as an F-150, but many of us did not know why. As Tesla Cybertrucks wrapped in various camouflage patterns have been frequent as of late, this was easily the most interesting of the bunch.

Tesla appears to have wrapped a Cybertruck to look like an F-150 Lightning

Tesla Cybertruck testing and validation are still ongoing, according to what the company said in its latest quarterly Shareholder Deck. But at Tesla, things are done a little differently than usual.

Most companies do their testing in private settings, but the automaker has had a knack for putting prototypes and other, more finalized builds on the street, and it has done it with everything from the Cybertruck to the Model 3.

Tesla is seemingly prepared to put its F-150-wrapped Cybertruck out on the streets soon, drawing up more buzz and garnering more attention as the all-electric pickup is headed toward production and first deliveries nearly four years after it was first unveiled.

Tesla wanted the Cybertruck to be different, and a quick glance shows that it is far from any ordinary pickup that is currently available out there. However, the company and its CEO Elon Musk have always been known to do things uniquely, and this includes throwing shade at rival car companies by undermining their product or poking fun at their designs.

We know Tesla was set on breaking the mold of the traditional pickup design, so it is comical that they would dress the Cybertruck up as something as popular as the F-150.

While it is obviously a bit of a troll job by Musk and the company, it also could be a great opportunity to display the company’s wraps, which Tesla has said will be available in any color or pattern.

Tesla sales in California outpace the world’s best-selling car company

Tesla outsold Toyota in California in the second quarter of 2023 by nearly 2,000 units, overtaking the automaker in terms of total registrations. The dominance was driven by the Model 3 and Model Y.

Tesla registered 69,212 cars throughout the second quarter of the year, while Toyota managed to obtain 67,482 registrations through the same timeframe.

The importance of Tesla overtaking a mass-producing automaker in its most popular U.S. market is massive. Tesla’s goal since the beginning of the company has been to make EVs affordable and take market share from gas competitors.

Toyota dominated market share during the same period in 2022, with 18.1 percent of the total car market in California. However, Tesla has managed to catch up with a 62.3 percent increase in sales in Q2 2023 compared to the same quarter last year.

The two companies are well above Honda, which captured the third-most registrations for the quarter at 9.7 percent. Tesla, at 14.6 percent, and Toyota, at 14.2 percent, were first and second.

Tesla has sold 123,482 cars to date, which is outshined by only Toyota. This was the first quarter that Tesla managed to outsell Toyota, and a strong first half has the Japanese company with nearly 10,000 more registrations than Tesla through the first six months.

Tesla also managed to capture several spots on the “Top Selling Models in Each Segment” list, as the Model 3 blew the competition away in the “Near Luxury” category. 41,718 registrations were enough for a 50.8 percent share of that category. The Lexus ES was second with 4,422 registrations at 5.4 percent.

The Model S was third in the “Luxury and High-End Sports Cars” category, trailing the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes EQS Sedan. The Model 3 captured 1,900 registrations in California in Q2, enough for 7.9 percent of the category, while the 5-Series had 15.7 percent and the EQS had 8.8 percent.

However, Tesla’s dominance was shown in the Top Selling Passenger Cars and Top Selling Light Trucks categories. The Model 3, with its 41,719 registrations, was ahead of the Toyota Camry with 27,169. The Model Y was interestingly labeled as a Light Truck, and 74,765 registrations dominated the 26,032 of the Toyota RAV4, which placed second in the category.

Tesla also appeared in the list of Top Selling Used Vehicles, as the Model 3 finished sixth with 9,359 registrations. This category was topped by the Honda Civic with 14,601.
