Tesla Cybertruck testing expands to public roads in Texas

Tesla Cybertruck testing has expanded to public roads in Texas for what appears to be the first sighting of the all-electric pickup on streets outside of California.

Since the Cybertruck has neared production, Tesla has been testing the vehicle on public roads since earlier this year. All of the sightings thus far have been in California, especially in the Northern portion of the State where the company’s operations are located.

Tesla used to have its Headquarters in Palo Alto, which is where the earliest sightings were located.

With the all-electric Cybertruck being produced in early versions at Gigafactory Texas near Austin, it has been interesting to note that there have not been any sightings of the pickup in the Lone Star State.

At least, until now. A video courteous of Dennis B. on Twitter shows the Cybertruck on public roads in Texas for the first time.

Tesla has routinely started testing vehicles that are heading toward imminent production on public roads, and the Cybertruck project has been no different. Although the vehicle is late to initial production, Tesla seems to be gearing up for the first units to be built potentially this Summer and delivered in Q3.

While all of the testing up to this point has been in California, this is the first sighting of the vehicle in Texas that was not for a dedicated event. Last week, Tesla launched its Lithium Refinery with a groundbreaking event, and CEO Elon Musk arrived in a Cybertruck, and its appearance was eventful, to say the least.

However, testing has now expanded closer to where the vehicle will actually be built. What does this mean, exactly? The details are more speculative than anything and Tesla remains relatively tight-lipped in terms of the development and production schedule of the vehicle.

We do know that Cybertruck production lines are up and running inside Gigafactory Texas based on photographs the automaker shared during its most recent Earnings Call.

We also know that, based on the number of different units we’ve seen thus far, there are quite a few prototypes floating about.

Which design will make it to production still seems to be up in the air, but the cleanest versions, one of which was spotted at Investor Day, is most likely the ideal candidate.

Tesla CE-No? Elon Musk responds to claims that he’ll step down

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will not be stepping down as the head of the electric automaker anytime soon. That at least appears to be the case based on recent events and comments made.

Musk has led Tesla to become one of the most disruptive companies in recent memory, and with his guidance, the automaker has surged to become the most valuable globally.

However, his purchase of social media platform Twitter last year definitely brought up some concern among shareholders. Noted frequently as an “overhang” on Tesla shares, Musk’s venture into running Twitter took away from his time as the head of the automaker.

However, Musk always maintained he was not going to be running the day-to-day operations of the platform forever, and earlier this week, it was confirmed that Linda Yaccarino would become the new CEO in about six weeks.

It was a huge relief for many Tesla investors who have long waited for Musk to bring his full attention back to the automaker.

Despite Musk’s hiring of a new CEO for Twitter, The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that there was speculation that his days running Tesla were numbered and Zachary Kirkhorn, the company’s CFO, was in line to take his place.

While running Tesla has been far from a walk in the park and has contributed to excessive amounts of stress on Musk, it doesn’t appear that his time is anywhere near over.

In fact, Musk said in a recent Tweet that Yaccarino’s hiring as Twitter CEO is actually a move that will allow him to “devote more time to Tesla.”

Investors that have long pushed for Musk to devote more time to the car company and less to Twitter are already celebrating the move and his confirmation that he will remain the head of Tesla.

Musk, who has successfully run both companies since last year, has been hit with criticisms related to Tesla’s falling stock price and the company’s shortcomings, for example, a failure to reach intended goals for production start dates.

However, it has not been all bad. Tesla has managed to drop prices of its EVs considerably in 2023 so far. It has caused a widespread drop in prices across the industry as competitors aim to keep up.

Tesla’s falling stock price could be attributed to a wide variety of factors outside of Musk’s control, including a downturn in tech stocks entirely as the U.S. has leaned toward a recession.

Tesla reveals plan to address ending Model S & X sales in select markets

Tesla has revealed a new plan to help customers in select markets where the automaker will no longer sell the Model S or Model X.

Select Tesla customers around the world woke up to bad news today. Tesla announced it would no longer be producing right-hand-drive (RHD) variants of the Model S or the Model X and hence, would be halting sales of those models in RHD markets, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and many more. Now, Tesla has revealed its plan to help customers who already had a vehicle ordered.

As initially reported by Sawyer Merrit on Twitter, Tesla will now be hosting seminars in select markets to answer questions from customers who have ordered but not received a Model S or a Model X. The presentations will also include a Q&A section where the company will field questions from customers and attempt to mitigate concerns.

Thus far, it remains unclear what options Tesla will be offering customers who choose to attend these meetings, but a offer has been made public. In the email sent to Model S and Model X customers, they were given the option to take $2,000 off a new Model 3 or Model Y order instead.

Strangely, Tesla has just announced that both the Model S and Model X will be coming to Japan, which is another RHD market, but instead of ending this expansion, Tesla will now be shipping left-hand-drive units to Japan for sale. Tesla has stated it has no plans to restart RHD Model S or Model X production.
