  • Scorpion Exhausts Release Renault Megane 225 System

Thanks to Renaultsport’s involvement, the Renault Megane range boasts some seriously desirable models in its line-up. Although they’re all superb performers ‘out of the box’, thanks to Scorpion Exhausts, owners of the oft-admired -04 on 225 models can now have a little more ‘va-va-voom’ at their disposal.

The Scorpion system fits from the catalyst back, retaining both full legality and warranty conformity. Hand-fabricated in aerospace grade T304 stainless steel, the 2.5” diameter tubing is mandrel bent to ensure a constant internal diameter and is optimised to balance the perfect back-pressure for the turbocharger with optimum extraction for maximum power gains.

Owners can specify either a front sports silencer or bypass pipe as the front section to dial in – or out – their desired level of noise. Perfect for ever-decreasing track day dB levels or for those looking to live with a quick car in the real world. The system terminates in two tasteful ‘Monaco’ 90 x 76mm oval tailpipes for an OEM look, with a little extra attitude. While the note is overtly sporty, Scorpion’s engineers have spent many hours of road and dyno testing to ensure that it’s not intrusive in the cabin. Power and torque gains of between 5 and 10% can be expected with huge improvements in mid-range throttle response.

Like all Scorpion systems, this new Megane 225 design benefits from a lifetime warranty to the original owner, making it a true ‘fit and forget’ upgrade. Prices start at just £249 for the rear sports back box rising to £450 for the full cat-back system with two silencers.

Leading suspension designers Eibach have just released details of their latest upgrade for the new Golf Mk 6: Their Pro-Street S adjustable coilover kit.

The latest kit, designed specifically for the car, uses the latest materials and construction techniques to give the VW a wide range of ride-height adjustment, while still retaining a fantastic ride quality. As the name suggests, Pro-Street S are designed with road use in mind, although their stainless steel construction, precision damper units and unparalleled build quality mean that they will also be a pretty effective upgrade on track, too.

The adjustable spring seat can be easily wound up or down in order to achieve the perfect stance – or corner weighting, before being easily locked off with a stainless allen bolt. Eibach actually uses the hugely respected ERS range of race springs on the Pro-Street units, which goes a long way towards explaining their race pedigree. Although not designed as a race-spec unit, there are numerous club-level competitors using them to great effect in various saloon series around the UK.

Ride height cab be adjusted from almost stock level to drops of around – 60mm. Damper rates are computer matched with the springs at the Eibach factory, making the Pro-Street S a true ‘fit and forget’ proposition once the desired ride-height has been set. The entire set of 4 costs just £702.61 plus VAT.

  • Cobra Suspension For Nissan 350Z

The Nissan 350Z revived the legend of the much vaunted ‘Z’ cars for Nissan and put a genuine driver’s car back into their model line up. Amazing to think that the car has been with us since 2002, making all those affordable, early examples rife for ardent tuners everywhere.

With the superb 24 valve V6 motor providing plenty of grunt, one of the most effective first modifications is the suspension. Thankfully, chassis maestros Cobra have a raft of solutions for this superb car, and all with full TUV approval.

The high quality finish includes pre-fatiguing, deep powder coating and heat curing to make the Cobra springs a true ‘fit and forget’ proposition.

The ultimate upgrade comes in the form of the Evo III coilover kit which allows full damping and rebound adjustment combined with ride-height adjustment to give incredible control allied to the perfect stance. The bodies are constructed from stainless steel to give long and faithful service, even in the depths of a salted British winter.
