Porsche Carrera GT-R by GPR Racing

An unofficial Porsche Carrera GT race car that was never homologated and thus never raced made headlines this week. The car is known as the Carrera GT-R, and it’s currently listed for sale by Germany’s Mechatronik.

2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition

This week we learned that the 2021 model year will be the last for the Toyota Land Cruiser in the United States. The Land Cruiser is about to be redesigned, and even though the new generation won’t be sold locally, it will spawn a Lexus twin which we should see here as a redesigned LX.

2021 Toyota C+Pod

Another Toyota in the headlines this week was the C+Pod, the first of several battery-electric cars the Japanese auto giant plans to launch over the coming years. The C+Pod is a tiny thing that weighs less than 1,500 pounds and only has about 12 horsepower, meaning you can count it out for U.S. sale.

Walter Röhrl and all seven generations of the Porsche 911 Turbo

Porsche released a video of a drag race pitting each generation of the 911 Turbo, from the original 930 to the current 992, against one another. Doing the driving were Porsche racing drivers from the past and present.

2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

Jeep announced pricing for its new 2021 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. The electrified version of the iconic off-roader has the ability to travel silently up to 25 miles while still being capable of tackling the Rubicon Trail.

2021 Subaru BRZ GT300 race car

And finally, the redesigned 2022 Subaru BRZ spawned a racing variant for the GT300 class of Japan’s Super GT touring car series. It will start racing in 2021, where it will go up against race cars based on the likes of the Acura NSX, Lexus RC F and Nissan GT-R.

Mercedes-Benz AMG is in the final stages of development of its One hypercar due on the road in 2021. This week we learned that recently crowned Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is helping to put the final touches.

Hennessey Venom F5

Another hypercar in the headlines this week was the Venom F5 from Hennessey Performance Engineering. It packs a monstrous 1,817 horsepower—an output Hennessey hopes will power the car to a top speed well past 300 mph.

2021 Audi SQ5

One of the vehicles we tested this week was the 2021 Audi SQ5. Audi’s Q5 has been updated for 2021 and if it’s performance you want, then the SQ5 is the way to go. The SUV makes a healthy 349 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged V-6 engine.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E first drive – Portland, OR

Another vehicle we tested was the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tesla is finally starting to see credible competition from the major automakers thanks to vehicles like the Mach-E. The battery-electric SUV not only offers up to 300 miles of range, it also has a performance grade that comes close to matching the Mustang Shelby GT500 in 0-60 times.

2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo

Alfa Romeo confirmed that 2020 will be the final year for the 4C sports car. The automaker is marking the occasion with a special-edition model inspired by the legendary 33 Stradale.

The Pagani Zonda wasn’t the first mid-engine supercar powered by a Mercedes-Benz V-12. A few years prior to the Zonda’s reveal, Germany’s Isdera built a car called the Commendatore 112i. Just the one was built, and this week we learned that it’s up for sale.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car

And finally, Porsche unveiled the new 911 GT3 Cup race car based on the 992-generation 911. It hints strongly at the upcoming 911 GT3 road car; for instance, the race car features a rear wing with swan necks struts, a design that will also make it to the road car, albeit in tamer form.

Acura this week revealed its redesigned 2022 MDX. The mid-size luxury SUV has been made more athletic thanks in part to a new double-wishbone front suspension, as well as a planned Type S version.

2022 Genesis GV70

Another new SUV in the headlines this week was the 2022 Genesis GV70. It’s a BMW X3 rival based on the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Genesis G70 sedan, and it’s just one of three SUVs that will be in the Korean automaker’s showrooms shortly.

A prototype for an updated version of the BMW X4 M was spotted. Judging by the prototype, the high-performance SUV is set to take on a more aggressive look with its upcoming round of updates.

2020 Audi A6 Allroad

Audi’s A6 Allroad shows that an SUV isn’t always necessary. The vehicle is what’s known as a soft-roader in automotive parlance, and we just tested the 2020 model.

Another 911 in the headlines this week was the redesigned 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 road car is coming soon, and so is its GT3 Cup racing variant which Porsche previewed this week.

1929 Bentley Blower Continuation Series prototype

And finally, Bentley became the first company to build a continuation example of a pre-war car, by building a new example of a 1929 Blower. The last time Bentley built a Blower was back in 1930, so getting all the parts necessary for the modern continuation example was no easy task.
