  • Eibach launch new Honda CR-Z chassis upgrades. Now hugs trees AND corners

Respected suspension manufacturer Eibach has launched a new range of suspension and wheel spacer upgrades for Honda’s new ‘green’ machine, The CR-Z.

The German firm has been quick out of the blocks to release the fully TUV approved kit, despite the new hatch having only been in the showrooms for a few months.

The new spring kit uses pre-fatigued, heat treated and surface-treated springs to lower the chassis by around 30mm. Not only does the resultant lower centre of gravity improve handling and turn-in, but the CR-Z also gains a useful improvement in stance, augmenting its cutting-edge looks even further.

Thanks to the progressive winding on each spring, ride quality is maintained at almost factory levels, whilst allowing the car to stay much flatter under cornering.

Optimised to work with the OEM dampers, the four spring kit costs £143.48 + VAT and comes with a comprehensive 5 year warranty.

The final finishing touch comes in the form of Eibach’s hub-centring spacer kits. Offering owners a wide range of track increases, these beautifully machined components offer a high-integrity solution from just £81.74 + VAT per pair.(10mm versions)

Who said saving the planet had to be dull?

  • Öhlins Release BMW E90 Road and Track Suspension Kit

Respected suspension maestro Öhlins has released the new benchmark in road-friendly, track-ready suspension for the BMW E90. The near-perfect balance of Munich’s super-saloon is the perfect recipient for the unique features of the Öhlins kit, which finally solves the puzzle of how to achieve a truly comfortable ride from competition-quality units.

Build quality is exceptional, with carbon-steel bodies and flawlessly anodised detailing. Öhlins’ pioneering dual-flow valve technology means that despite their light weight and slim-line profile, the Road and Track kit responds to road undulations in exactly the same manner as a traditional Macpherson strut set-up. The use of needle valves in the damping unit also means that even when the oil gets hot after a hard session on the circuit or ‘B’ road, the damping rate is kept absolutely consistent, even when the viscosity of the damping fluid changes.

Height adjustment is achieved by simple adjustment of the precision-machined threaded body and damping and rebound are tweaked simultaneously in one simple twist of the easily accessible knurled knob; allowing the supermarket run to be clicked off with limo-style smoothness and after a few seconds of adjustment, track days to be dispatched with racecar precision.

This unparalleled quality helps to explain Öhlins 2 year warranty and thanks to their racing heritage, each unit is fully serviceable and even upgradeable, should requirements or car specs change.

The complete kit is priced at  £1844.90 + VAT

  • Cobra Citroen DS3 Spring Upgrade Package Out Now!

The launch of the new Citroen DS3 has caused ripples of excitement throughout the motor industry. The French manufacturer has seemingly found its ‘Mojo’ again and is producing exciting hot hatches in the idiom of the tuner’s favourite, the much-loved Saxo.

The new Cobra kit drops the attractive 3 door by a tasteful and practical 30mm. More on the lesser engined variants. By lowering the car’s centre of gravity, both turn and traction mid-corner are greatly improved whilst driver feedback and enjoyment are considerably heightened.

The Cobra range is simply vast and covers almost the entire range of Citroen cars from 1980s to the present day – even including the AX, Picasso and ZX versions. A huge range of variants are available, meaning that drops as subtle as 20mm or as serious as 50mm are available. As well as improved stance, the Cobra springs offer pin-point turn-in and greater chassis feedback, despite the superb levels of ride comfort that are still maintained.

The heat-treated springs are powder-coated for a long and durable life – even on the UK’s salted winter roads. Each spring is cold formed for accuracy before being heat treated for strength and durability. Finally, each and every spring is shot-peened to pre-fatigue the spring and eliminate sagging. This lengthy production process explains Cobra’s confidence in their product, their class-leading warranty and full TUV approval. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but are expected to be in-line with the rest of the Cobra range.
