  • Eibach UK appoints Greg Kirby as UK General Manager

Eibach UK, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Eibach GmbH, has promoted Greg Kirby to the position of General Manager. Kirby, who was appointed as Technical Manager in 2008, has been a key player in the firm’s burgeoning OEM, military and motorsport portfolio.

A devoted family man and true ‘petrolhead’, Kirby’s CV also includes key project management, technical and business development roles for blue chip names like Trelleborg, Bilstein and Euro Car Parts. Having worked in the automotive sector exclusively since gaining his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1998, he will assume full responsibility for the GM role from the 1st of November.

He will replace outgoing General Manager, Julian Gill who has been involved with the brand since 1988, entering the management team in 1993. Gill has now been promoted to the role of Director, Global Sales for Eibach Industries GmbH.

Greg Kirby. GM, Eibach UK. ‘I am delighted and honoured to take the ‘pilot’s seat’ for our UK operations. We have a superb team already in place at our Broughton Astley HQ and I know that we can build on the successes and firm foundations that Julian has put in place over the last two decades.  Despite a tough year of difficult trading conditions, we have managed to continue growth throughout 2010 – and I’m sure that with a more cohesive global structure under Julian’s control, we can make the next few years even better still.’

Julian Gill. Director, Global Sales Eibach Industries GmbH. ‘As one of the few, genuine family owned Global players in the automotive sector, Eibach has always sought to nurture talent from within and maintain our strict ethos of quality and excellence. The Eibach board has immense faith in Greg’s ability to take the UK operation forward, increasing our market share and offering an even greater level of service and support to our retail, OEM and competition clients. His unique background, that balances the heavily technical with consumer and retail experience, is the ideal skill-set for this role.’

  • Cobra Springs Release Nissan Cube Suspension Upgrade

Leading suspension manufacturer Cobra has released a superb new spring upgrade kit for the latest version of the quirky Nissan cube. The cute leftfield MPV has many virtues, but up until now, pin-point handling hasn’t been one of them!

Cobra’s engineering led solution uses pre-fatigued and shot peened springs to lower the car by around 30mm. Not only does this do wonders for the stance of the geometric Nissan, but also adds a significant dynamic improvement to the whole driving experience. Turn-in and general handling are greatly improved without ruining the Nissan’s compliant factory ride quality and best of all, the springs are designed to work perfectly with the factory dampers.

With a thick protective powder coat and numerous anti-corrosive treatments, it comes as little surprise that all Cobra kits come with full TUV approval and a class-leading 5 year warranty. Prices are as yet unconfirmed, but expected to be in line with the rest of the Cobra range.

  • Eibach launch new Honda CR-Z chassis upgrades. Now hugs trees AND corners

Respected suspension manufacturer Eibach has launched a new range of suspension and wheel spacer upgrades for Honda’s new ‘green’ machine, The CR-Z.

The German firm has been quick out of the blocks to release the fully TUV approved kit, despite the new hatch having only been in the showrooms for a few months.

The new spring kit uses pre-fatigued, heat treated and surface-treated springs to lower the chassis by around 30mm. Not only does the resultant lower centre of gravity improve handling and turn-in, but the CR-Z also gains a useful improvement in stance, augmenting its cutting-edge looks even further.

Thanks to the progressive winding on each spring, ride quality is maintained at almost factory levels, whilst allowing the car to stay much flatter under cornering.

Optimised to work with the OEM dampers, the four spring kit costs £143.48 + VAT and comes with a comprehensive 5 year warranty.

The final finishing touch comes in the form of Eibach’s hub-centring spacer kits. Offering owners a wide range of track increases, these beautifully machined components offer a high-integrity solution from just £81.74 + VAT per pair.(10mm versions)
