  • 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2021 Mercedes-Benz E450, Ken Block and Ford: The Week In Reverse

We said goodbye to the Toyota Land Cruiser, had our first seat time in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E450 Coupe, and witnessed the end of Ken Block’s exclusive partnership with Ford. It’s the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority.

We spent a week with the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser to remind ourselves why it’s the ultimate SUV for a select few and the wrong tool for the job for most consumers, before it leaves the market at the end of 2021.

The 2022 Ford Ranger was spotted undergoing testing on public roads. The next-gen Ranger will adopt a mini F-150 design with blunt, upright front end and squared-off design. Expect a debut to take place in 2021.

We slid behind the wheel of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E450 Coupe and found it to be a comfortable, sporty cruiser with one flaw: the overly complicated steering wheel controls. Planted and precise, the E450 coupe with all-wheel drive and the AMG sport package makes for a terrific partner.

Cadillac teased its flagship Celestiq electric car during its 2021 CES presentation. The hand-built flagship electric car will feature a four-quadrant smart glass roof, and the front end design looks similar to that of the upcoming Lyriq electric crossover SUV.

Ken Block’s marriage to Ford has come to an end. While the relationship didn’t end with a divorce, the exclusive 10-year contract has ended, which leaves Block a free agent to pursue other automakers. Block’s relationship with Ford is unlikely to end completely, but expect the hot shoe to strike up partnerships with other automakers in the near future. Block used to work with Subaru before his contract with Ford.

  • 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, SSC Tuatara, 2022 GMC Hummer EV: The Week In Reverse

We flew in the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX; SSC broke a world speed record with the Tuatara; and the 2022 GMC Hummer EV was revealed. It’s the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority.

A Hellcat-powered Ram finally exists and we slid behind the wheel. With 702 horsepower, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX flew over jumps, climbed over rocks, drifted around a dirt track, and even tackled some pavement. It is the new king of the off-road pickup truck segment and has no issue going more than 100 mph over any terrain, but it guzzles gas and has a big price.

When the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS arrives in dealers at the end of 2020 it will cost $161,550. Set to compete with the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the GLS is a posh SUV with reclining rear seats with the ability to heat, cool, and massage passengers.

The SSC Tuatara is now the world’s fastest production car and Oliver Webb is the world’s fastest guy on the planet in a production car. The Tuatara and Webb made two passes down a seven-mile stretch of State Route 160 in Nevada for an average speed of 316.11 mph. Your turn, Koenigsegg.

The 2021 BMW M4 Convertible was spied undergoing track testing at the Nürburgring. Featuring the same design in the front and rear as the coupe, the M4 Convertible features the tall (and polarizing) twin kidney grille. The new model drops the previous iteration’s hardtop for a soft-top with a new roofline.

Hummer lives another day to tackle the trails. GM’s truck and SUV division unveiled the 2022 GMC Hummer EV with 1,000 horsepower, up to 350 miles of range, and a price of $112,595. Powered by GM’s next-gen battery tech dubbed Ultium, the electric pickup truck will hit dealers at the end of 2021.

  • 2022 Acura MDX, SSC Tuatara, R34 Nissan GT-R: The Week In Reverse

Acura unveiled a prototype of the 2022 MDX; the SSC Tuatara might have set a new world record; and a rare R34 Nissan GT-R is for sale. It’s the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority.

The 2022 Acura MDX was revealed in prototype form with a handsome design inside and out. The next-generation people mover will be more athletic thanks in part to a new double-wishbone front suspension like that of the 2021 TLX. It will also boast a luxurious interior as it becomes the automaker’s flagship with the death of the RLX.

We drove the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost and can say we’ve used sewing machines that make more noise. It floats down the road like a butterfly, but stings with its V-12 power. It was easily the best vehicle seen in the Whataburger drive-through in at least a week.

The SSC Tuatara might be the world’s fastest production car. Reportedly, the hypercar made a land-speed record attempt on Highway 160, which runs between Las Vegas and Pahrump, Nevada, where a Koenigsegg Agera RS set a speed record in 2017. We should learn the results soon.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer was spotted testing on public roads. The production version of the large SUV drops the concept’s 23-inch wheels and intricate front lighting but retains the overall look of the concept, including the Ram 1500-like headlights.

A rare R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Specc II Nür is for sale. It’s one of just 718 V-Spec II Nür models built and one of just 156 finished in Millennium Jade. The asking price is $485,000. The car is located in Japan and listed by JDM Expo.
