Welcome to this week’s FC Throwback, where we take a look back at some of our favourite previous feature cars. This week it’s Joe Jones’s tuned Vauxhall Corsa C from way back in 2014…
Your first car will always hold a special place in your heart, and no one knows this better than our mate Joe Jones. As far as Christmas gifts go, bagging yourself a fresh motor from old Santa Claus aka Dad, isn’t too shabby! At only 16 he was handed the keys to his Corsa, but it was a far cry from what you see here today. Daddy Jones even set Joe off on his life of modifying by sorting the Corsa out with a new exhaust, top dad!
Of course it wasn’t going to end there, that’d be boring! Instead he hammered on with the mods over the next four years to create his perfect Corsa. It didn’t all fit into place at the first attempt though. This is the fourth or so incarnation of the project and he’s finally nailed it!
Most of what you see here is all down to Joe’s own handy work. The front and rear bumpers have been rid of their plate recess and towing points. The smoothing continues round the side and onto the boot with the side repeaters gone along with the boot handle and rear wiper. Whilst at it Joe has also added an Irmscher splitter and a set of skirts. To bring the car bang up to date a pair of Devil eye headlights and SXI rear lights were fitted, tidy! To finish things off an SRi spoiler and M3 style mirrors were fitted before the whole lot was sent off to the bodyshop for a fresh lick of Vauxhall Breeze blue paint. To get the Corsa suitably dumped it’s been kitted out with a Rayvern 2-way air kit allowing the car to squat perfectly over the set of powder coated Schmidt Spaceline rims.
It would have been easy to leave the engine out of sight and untouched, but Joe doesn’t do easy! Instead he’s tucked away the ugly wires and added some class to the bay with a splash of chrome and carbon. Joe has even sorted the car out with a fresh set of anchors. Gone are the old brakes and in their place sit a set of drilled and grooved discs that Joe fitted up to hubs from a 1.8 SRi.
Nothing’s been left untouched on this motor and the interior is no exception. The front seats have been swapped out for a set of MX-5 seats that add a touch of JDM to this build. The dash is a complete custom jobby that’s had an iPad sunk into it which operates the tunes as well as displaying the speedo, sweet! Talking of tunes the door cards and A pillars have been built with one thing in mind, noise, and plenty of it! A ton of the top VIBE gear has been carefully fitted in wherever there is space in the little Vauxhall.
Considering this is Joe’s first attempt at modifying, he’s nailed it hard! Every corner of the car has been finished to the highest quality. A job that Joe should be proud of – top work geezer!
