*MAXXD* Andy's Mazda RX8 'Blue Phantom'
Hey. Bought the car in September 2012. its an SE3P RX8, 'Evolve' model. There is only 100 ever made in Phantom Blue. The rarest RX8 in the UK market. As standard it comes with;

This is how she looked;

First thing I did was get rid of the horrible Bridgestone Potenza RE050's. Terrible tyres. I purchased the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 semi-slick tyres;

I also had the wintows tinted over at JG;

From there, I then imported the front dam, front mud guards, side aero and rear aero deflectors from America. Here she is with them on;

next step was to put a cobrasport exhaust on;

Unfortunatly, I then took it to a garage and they killed the engine. it was SORN from January this year until about 3 weeks ago. I put D585 uprated coils on the car along with a full engine rebuild.

The first thing I noticed is that you have some 'foreign parts' in your engine bay and under the car. Possible something to do with LPG? Certainly none standard and no longer connected.

Your sump has been replaced at some point

So has the clutch

[Image: null_zps98d7a492.jpg]

The engine stripped down with classic low comp wear

The irons all looked ok to me. The rotor housings and rotors need a clean before you could tell if they are reusable but I think the e-shaft looks good

Dont often see this; both Evolve copper red and my phantom blue together ...

And now we get to today! here she is all clean and polished;

[Image: 20130609_140516_zps1f10918a-1_zpsb7e7c745.jpg]

I don't have any future plans at the moment. I could only put a cold air intake along with a remap on the car but have to wait 6000 miles for the rebuild to run in. Spoiler is going on tomorrow.

And that's the story of the Blue Phantom!

That's a lot of work gone into it! I can see the addiction to the Wankel engines but the constant fear of a costly rebuild would always be at the back of my head!

I do like the colour, have you manage to avoid any rust problems?

Are you local-ish, trying to think if ive ever seen the car in person!

RE: Andy's RX8 'Blue Phantom'
Live in mansfield mate in Ladybrook! One spot of rust around the rear brake light, otherwise all good.

The rebuild cost me £2250 all in with a years warranty. After 11 months I can take another years warranty for £250.

I bought the car for £3000, spent £2250 on a rebuild, and its got me a 4 seater car with some smashing performance and handling, fits a buggy and a kids isofix seat in the back, all the mod cons and a warranty!

Best way to buy one to be honest. Total expenditure on the car is;

Car- £3000
Rebuild- £2250
Tyres- £800
Uprated coils/leads/plugs- £365
Tints- £75
kit- £520 painted and fitted
Exhaust- £395
TOTAL-£7450

Seems alot over a year now, but the car was a straight swap for my C4 basically, and I got some help with the rebuild cost.

It's a lot to spend dude, but i suppose you know that you have a sorted car and can enjoy the driving and modifying safe in the knowledge it ain't gonna blow up immediately!

Looking forward to seeing the colour in person!

RE: Andy's RX8 'Blue Phantom'
Spoiler fitted today at B-smart on Pecks hill. £30;

[Image: 20130702_182907_zps2bbd8711.jpg]

To me, that finishes the car off perfectly for the complete OEM look. Spoiler, dam, guards and deflectors are all genuine Mazda accessories.

RE: Andy's RX8 'Blue Phantom'
Are these all rare bits as well? I bet this is the rarest RX8 going by the time you have done!

Looks good though and can't argue for that price on fitting!
